How to Schedule Your Appointment

East Wind Dental Care offers multiple convenient ways to schedule your dental appointment. Choose the method that works best for your lifestyle and preferences.

Call Our Office

The most direct way to schedule is by calling (503) 614-0198 during business hours. Our friendly front desk team will help you select an appointment time that accommodates your schedule, answer questions about your first visit, verify your insurance coverage, and address any concerns you may have. If you’re calling outside business hours, you can leave a message and we’ll return your call first thing the next business day.

When calling to schedule, it’s helpful to have your insurance information available if you plan to use dental benefits. Our team can verify your coverage and provide cost estimates before your appointment. If you’re a new patient, we’ll ask basic information to create your patient record and send you forms to complete before your visit, saving you time when you arrive.

Online Booking

For the convenience of scheduling at any time of day or night, our website features an online appointment request system. Simply visit eastwinddental.com, click the “Schedule Appointment” button, and complete the brief form indicating your preferred appointment times, the type of visit you’re scheduling (new patient exam, routine cleaning, specific concern), and your contact information. Our team will confirm your requested time or contact you with alternative options if your preferred time isn’t available.

Online scheduling is particularly convenient for busy professionals, parents managing family schedules, or anyone who prefers to handle appointments outside traditional phone hours. You’ll receive confirmation via email once your appointment is scheduled, along with instructions for completing new patient paperwork if applicable.

What to Bring to Your First Visit

Preparing for your first visit to East Wind Dental Care ensures a smooth, efficient experience and allows Dr. Ostovar to provide the most comprehensive care possible. Here’s what to bring with you:

New Patient Checklist

    • Photo ID (driver’s license or state ID)
    • Dental insurance card and information
    • List of current medications including dosages
    • List of known allergies
    • Previous dental records (if available)
    • Payment method for copays or fees
    • List of questions or concerns

Insurance and Identification

Bring your dental insurance card, even if you’ve already provided this information over the phone. Our team will make copies for your file and verify your current coverage and benefits. If your employer has recently changed insurance carriers or if you’ve updated your plan, having your current card ensures we have accurate information for billing.

Also bring a current photo ID such as a driver’s license or state identification card. This helps us verify your identity and ensures your records are accurately maintained. If you’re bringing a child or teenager, bring their insurance card and your ID as the parent or legal guardian.

Medical and Dental History

While we’ll send you forms to complete before your visit, bring a list of all medications you currently take, including prescription medications, over-the-counter drugs, vitamins, and supplements. Some medications affect dental treatment planning, so complete information helps Dr. Ostovar provide the safest care possible.

If you have any medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, or autoimmune conditions, be prepared to discuss these with Dr. Ostovar. Certain medical conditions require modifications to dental treatment protocols, and understanding your complete health picture allows us to provide safe, effective care.

Bring information about previous dental work, especially if you’ve had recent treatment at another practice. If possible, request that your previous dentist forward your dental records and X-rays to our office before your appointment. This helps Dr. Ostovar understand your dental history and avoid duplicating recent radiographs unnecessarily.

Questions and Concerns

Write down any questions or concerns you’d like to discuss with Dr. Ostovar. Whether you’re worried about a specific tooth, interested in cosmetic improvements, or simply want to understand your current oral health status, bringing a written list ensures you don’t forget anything important during your appointment.

If you have dental anxiety or special needs that affect your dental care, please inform us when scheduling and remind the team when you arrive. We’re experienced in making nervous patients comfortable and can take extra time, explain procedures thoroughly, and use techniques that minimize anxiety.

Virtual Office Tour

While we invite you to visit East Wind Dental Care in person, we’d like to give you a preview of what to expect when you arrive. Our office has been designed with patient comfort, safety, and efficiency in mind.

Reception and Waiting Area

You’ll enter through our welcoming reception area, where our friendly front desk team will greet you by name and help you check in for your appointment. The waiting area features comfortable seating, current reading materials, and a calming atmosphere that helps you relax before your appointment. Complimentary beverages are available, and free Wi-Fi allows you to catch up on work or personal tasks if you arrive early.

Our reception area is designed to be welcoming for all ages. If you’re bringing children, we have a small children’s area with books and activities to keep young patients entertained. The entire office maintains a calm, professional environment that puts patients at ease from the moment they walk through the door.

Treatment Rooms

Our treatment rooms are equipped with the latest dental technology, including CEREC same-day crown equipment, digital X-ray sensors, intraoral cameras, and comfortable dental chairs. Each room has a monitor where Dr. Ostovar can show you X-rays, intraoral images, and educational materials to help you understand your treatment.

The treatment rooms are meticulously cleaned and sterilized between patients following strict infection control protocols that meet or exceed CDC and OSHA guidelines. You’ll notice that all instruments are packaged in sterilization pouches and opened in front of you, and team members wear appropriate personal protective equipment to ensure your safety and ours.

Consultation Room

For patients who want to discuss treatment plans in a more relaxed setting, we have a private consultation room where Dr. Ostovar can review treatment options, answer questions, and help you make informed decisions about your dental care. This space is particularly useful for discussing cosmetic treatments, extensive restorative work, or addressing concerns in a setting that feels less clinical.

Comfort Amenities

Your comfort matters to us. Treatment rooms are equipped with blankets for warmth, pillows for neck support, and noise-canceling headphones if you prefer to listen to music during treatment. We offer nitrous oxide sedation for anxious patients, and Dr. Ostovar uses gentle techniques and takes time to ensure you’re comfortable throughout your visit.

Our office temperature is carefully controlled for comfort year-round, and we use air filtration systems to maintain fresh, clean air throughout the building. We’ve thought about every detail to make your visit as pleasant and stress-free as possible.

Emergency Contact Information

Dental Emergency? We’re Here to Help!

Call Immediately: (503) 614-0198

Dental emergencies can happen at any time, and East Wind Dental Care is committed to being available when you need us most. Understanding how to reach us during emergencies ensures you get prompt care when it matters most.

Same-Day Emergency Appointments

If you’re experiencing a dental emergency during regular business hours, call our office immediately at (503) 614-0198. Our team will assess your situation over the phone and schedule a same-day appointment whenever possible. We reserve time in Dr. Ostovar’s schedule specifically for emergency patients, so we can usually see you the same day you call.

Common dental emergencies include severe toothache, knocked-out tooth, broken or cracked tooth, lost filling or crown, abscess or facial swelling, soft tissue injuries to lips or gums, and orthodontic emergencies. Don’t wait to see if the problem resolves on its own. Prompt treatment often means the difference between saving and losing a tooth, and it can prevent minor issues from becoming major problems.

After-Hours Emergency Protocol

If you experience a dental emergency outside our regular office hours, call (503) 614-0198. Our voicemail system includes instructions for reaching Dr. Ostovar or our on-call team for urgent situations that cannot wait until the next business day. Leave a detailed message including your name, phone number, and the nature of your emergency, and someone will return your call as quickly as possible.

For severe emergencies involving uncontrolled bleeding, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or serious facial trauma, please go to your nearest emergency room or call 911 immediately. While emergency rooms are not equipped to perform most dental procedures, they can address life-threatening complications and provide pain management and antibiotics if needed until you can see Dr. Ostovar.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you accept new patients?

Yes, East Wind Dental Care welcomes new patients of all ages. Dr. Ostovar accepts new patients for all types of dental care, from routine preventive care to complex restorative and cosmetic procedures. We’re currently accepting new patient appointments and look forward to becoming your dental care partner.

What insurance plans do you accept?

We accept most major dental insurance plans, including PPO and indemnity plans. Our team will verify your benefits before your appointment and provide an estimate of your out-of-pocket costs. We’re also in-network with many major insurance carriers. Call our office with your insurance information, and we’ll confirm whether we’re in your network and what your benefits cover.

What if I don’t have dental insurance?

Patients without dental insurance are absolutely welcome at East Wind Dental Care. We offer transparent pricing and will provide cost estimates before beginning any treatment. For patients needing extensive work, we can discuss payment plans that make quality dental care affordable. We also offer a dental membership plan for uninsured patients that includes preventive care and discounts on other services.

How long is a typical new patient appointment?

A comprehensive new patient exam typically takes 60-90 minutes. This includes time for dental X-rays, a thorough examination by Dr. Ostovar, oral cancer screening, gum health assessment, discussion of your dental history and concerns, and development of a personalized treatment plan. If your schedule allows, we can often perform a professional cleaning during the same appointment, though some patients prefer to schedule cleaning separately after reviewing their treatment plan.

Can I schedule appointments for my entire family together?

Absolutely! We’re happy to schedule family appointments back-to-back or simultaneously when possible. This is especially convenient for parents bringing children, as it minimizes trips to our office. Let our scheduling team know you’d like family appointments, and we’ll do our best to accommodate everyone on the same day.

Do you offer emergency appointments?

Yes, we reserve time in our schedule for same-day emergency appointments. If you’re experiencing dental pain, trauma, or other urgent issues, call our office immediately at (503) 614-0198. We’ll assess your situation and get you in to see Dr. Ostovar as quickly as possible, often the same day you call.

Is your office accessible for patients with disabilities?

Yes, our office is fully ADA-accessible with accessible parking spaces near the entrance, level entry, automatic doors, and wide hallways and doorways throughout. Our treatment rooms can accommodate wheelchairs, and our team is experienced in providing care to patients with various physical and developmental needs. Please let us know when scheduling if you have any special needs so we can ensure everything is prepared for your comfortable visit.

How far in advance should I schedule routine appointments?

For routine preventive care such as cleanings and exams, we recommend scheduling 2-4 weeks in advance to ensure you get your preferred day and time. However, we often have availability within a few days for patients with flexible schedules. If you need a last-minute appointment, call us and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. Many of our patients schedule their next cleaning before leaving their current appointment, which ensures continuity of care and gives you the widest selection of available times.
